The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand, is seeking an Administrative Assistant, Training to join its team within the Education Department on a permanent part-time basis.


An opportunity exists for an experienced administrative assistant to be part of a dynamic team, and provide administrative support primarily for the RANZCP Specialist International Medical Graduate Education program (SIMGE) team. This role is also responsible for, but not limited to, data entry, filing, document control, assist in the planning and coordination of meetings, the provision of information and advice to relevant stakeholders and team members, prepare and draft memoranda, assistance with supporting relevant committees and relief reception duties.


The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications in administration and / or demonstrated experience in an administrative or education environment.
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to plan, set priorities and to meet deadlines, with flexibility to alter priorities to meet changing demands.
  • Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to build relationships, work collaboratively and consultatively within a small team environment, with other College staff, Senior Officers of the College, Fellows, Chairs of relevant committees and working parties, and external agencies
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office software packages and a working understanding of databases and website administration. Previous experience in iMIS database is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to think creatively and offer input into the administrative operations of the Specialist IMG team.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and a commitment to providing quality customer service
  • Sound attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, action oriented, thinks conceptually and operationally
  • Understanding of / and or experience in a membership organisation is desirable.
  • Understanding of State and Commonwealth Regulations/Legislation and overseas qualifications is desirable.
  • Experience in meeting / event co-ordination is desirable.
  • Experience in agenda preparation and minute taking is desirable.
