The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand, is seeking an experienced Manager to support to a number of College committees and support their work in partnership with community members and with other stakeholder groups.

 

As part of the Practice, Policy and Partnerships Department, this is an opportunity to lead a dynamic small team that is involved in important developments in mental health.

 

 The Manager will ensure the optimal functioning of these committees and their associated working groups to enable their contributions to advance the profession and practice of psychiatry and improve the mental health of communities. In terms of committee work plans, this position takes primary responsibility for ensuring a plan of action to achieve deliverables.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate

  • Demonstrated ability to strategically develop and manage multiple inter-related committees to achieve objectives, including planning, budgeting, work plans and follow up.
  •  Demonstrated experience in a membership or not for profit health-related   organization.
  •  Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Australian and New Zealand health care system, ideally the Mental Health Sector.
  •  Experience working in partnership with health care consumers and carers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clinicians and varied internal and external groups and individuals.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse issues/problems, formulate recommendations, implement decisions and review outcomes.
  • Demonstrable experience in a management and leadership role.
  • Ability to build relationships, work collaboratively and consultatively within a small team environment.
  •  Ability to prioritise workload and adapt to meet changing demands.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate Health, Social Science, Business or Research discipline, preferably at postgraduate level.
  • Qualification in project management or equivalent is desirable.
  • A high level of typing skills and computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience in database usage.
  • Availability to work outside of usual business hours, as required, and to undertake some travel.
