The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists has an exceptional opportunity in its Education department for the influential role of Senior Manager, Training and Development.

 

As the Senior Manager, Training and Development you will lead and oversee strategic and operational activities of the Fellowship Program, Comparability Training Pathways (for Specialist International Medical Graduates – SIMG), Certificates of Advanced Training and Post-Graduate Certificates. The role requires strong background in curriculum development to drive any quality improvement activities in the Training Program.

 

This senior position plays a pivotal role in the implementation and delivery of educational and curriculum strategies for the training program, its trajectory, operations, associated policies, and quality improvement projects, overseeing the collaboration with relevant committees and stakeholders, evaluation, analysis and reporting on educational developments. The successful incumbent will provide leadership and strategic advice on the risks, complexities, and implications on post-graduate medical specialist training, accreditation matters and assessments development.

 

The Senior Manager Training and Development will demonstrate leadership and expertise in the development of the response to the AMC accreditation conditions against the relevant education related standards and oversee the reporting to the Education Committee and the RANZCP Board in relation to training matters, and SIMG related matters, including assessment, reconsideration, and governance processes.

 

As a leader in post-graduate medical training, you will be engaged in internal and external developmental initiatives, analyse the impact on project transition to ‘Business as Usual’ and evaluate the emerging requirements in the portfolio against budget and resource implications, while ensuring that the project and program outcomes are achieved within the allocated parameters, governance and timeframes.

 

The role is responsible for the management of a significant portfolio, and the establishment of a modern culture in staff management, ensuring a positive working ethic and environment.

 

About you

Your ability to engage with stakeholders and oversee problem resolution processes and build strong partnerships with internal and external agencies will be crucial as well as your expertise in providing advice to various audiences, with the aim of effective communication, education vision and rationale. 

 

High-level experience in leading complex teams and continuous quality improvement of systems and processes in medical education and/or post-graduate training, in a dynamic and heavily regulated accreditation environment.

 

You will need post-graduate qualifications in education or health systems/public health, and/or demonstrated significant experience in training/education development in a complex environment, with a background in curriculum design, educational and policy development in a university or membership organization. Management of complex teams and ability to address multiple stakeholder groups, with demonstrated experience in the preparation of high-level reports and well-developed presentation skills to a diverse audience, will enable this role to deliver successful outcomes.

 

To be successful in this position, it would be beneficial to have sound experience in a membership-based organisation, with the demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles, post-graduate / specialist medical training and governance practice, knowledge of health services training and post-graduate medical education environment.
