About Us

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand. A leader in the mental health sector, the College works to prepare medical specialists in the field of psychiatry, support and enhance clinical practice, advocate for people affected by mental illness and advise governments on mental health care. 

 

Position overview

The RANZCP has received funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) under the Psychiatry Workforce Program to support the development of rural and remote psychiatry training pathways and networks. The key objective of this position is to assist with achievement of the deliverables outlined in the Rural Psychiatry Roadmap, as part of the wider RPTP Team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the relevant steering group including the development of agendas, meetings, minutes, action items and outcomes.
  • Attend relevant Committee meetings and provide project updates. 
  • Track and report on progress of project plans. 
  • Contribute to advocacy for funding relevant to implementation, including state/territory and federal pre-budget submissions.
  • Obtain a sound working knowledge of key documents related to the RANZCP Fellowship program including RANZCP Fellowship Regulations 2012, Accreditation Standards, and the National Selection criterion.
  • Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, providing advice when required. 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of project-related documents, including College definitions, the DoHAC’s National Mental Health Workforce Strategy and how accreditation practices impact building a non-GP rural specialist medical workforce.
  • Provide accurate and timely support to other team members and actively participate in the pursuit of team goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in government-funded programs, or membership-based programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in project design, coordination and administration including planning, analysis, implementation, project evaluation and reporting.
  • A knowledge or understanding of medical education, and/or the Australian and New Zealand mental health system context, is desirable.
  • High level of understanding and skills in using relevant computer applications including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets and experience in database and communications software.
  • Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must be either an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen. Alternatively, they must possess a valid visa for the specified duration.
